YOUTH NATIONALS

The 2011 Youth Nationals in Albuquerque was an exciting week for JWS riders and fans.  The weather was perfect…cool and comfortable in the shade but warm in the sun with an occasional shower!  The show itself was almost perfect as well.  With four horses and four riders, John White Stables managed to win seven National Championships and three Top Tens.

The “Men in Black,” Zach White and his handsome black half Arabian gelding Rocky Roses, won two National Championships.  The first one was in Half Arabian Saddleseat Equitation Walk Trot.  They followed that with a National Championship in Half Arabian English Pleasure Walk Trot.  Zach also won two National Championships riding August Engine, a beautiful purebred bay gelding owned by Strawberry Banks Farm.  Zach and “Gus” won the National Championship unanimously in Purebred Saddleseat Equitation Walk Trot.  They were also National Champion in the Purebred Country Pleasure Walk Trot.

Sarah Delisi rode August Engine in the Purebred Saddleseat Equitation, 14 – 17, and won the National Championship.  The beautifully matched pair followed that with a flawless performance and a National Championship in Purebred Country Driving, JTD.
Carey Cosgrove of Horseshoe, North Carolina, teamed up with the lovely chestnut mare BA Rise to Fame, owned by the Camacho family of Garden Prairie, WI; and the two of them won the National Championship in the UPHA Challenge Cup, 13 and Under.  Carey also won a Top Ten in the Half Arabian Saddleseat Equitation, 13 and Under.
In his first year of competition at Youth Nationals, seven-year-old Rex White won two National Top Tens on Huck’s High Esteem, “Steamer.”  Competing against mostly older riders in the 10 and under division, Rex and Steamer came away with Top Ten ribbons in Half Arabian Saddleseat Equitation, Walk Trot, and in Half Arabian Country Pleasure, Walk Trot.  Quite an achievement for the young rider who was still competing in academy classes only last winter!

REGIONALS

REGION X

In spite of the uncertainty of the weather (hot today, cold tomorrow!), Region X provided a great deal of fun and excitement for John White Stables exhibitors and spectators. JWS emerged with an amazing display of wins by everyone in the barn. Karla Morshhauser and her very “cool” gelding, Cool Pursuit, won Reserve Championships in HA Native Costume and in HA Country Pleasure Driving ATD. She and “Cooper” also won a Top 5 in HA Country Pleasure, AAOTR. Stephanie Reitter had a spectacular class and rode to the championship on Premonition GA in the AOTR Park and also won a Top 5 in HA English Pleasure AOTR.
BA Harlem’s Night Out, the brilliant black gelding, had an excellent show as well. With Lisa Jo White in the irons, Harlem won the Regional Championship in the HA Open Country Pleasure. He also won the HA Open Country Pleasure Driving Championship with Lisa driving and was Top 5 in the HA Country Pleasure Driving JTD with Sarah Delisi. In additition, Sarah had wins on August Engine, an outstanding purebred gelding owned by Strawberry Banks Farm. She and “Gus” won the championship in Saddleseat Equitation, 17 and under, and won the Reserve Championship in PB Country Pleasure Driving, JTD.
Zach and Rex White contributed their share to the JWS wins. In the 10 and under category, Zach won championships on the purebred August Engine in both Saddleseat Equitation W/T and Country Pleasure W/T. Rex was Reserve Champion on Huck’s High Esteem in Country Pleasure W/T and Top 5 in Saddleseat W/T.
Bella Groover and her HA gelding Van Halen were Top 5 in HA Country Pleasure JTR, HA Country Pleasure, JOTR, and in Saddleseat Equitation, 17 and Under.

REGION XI

One thing about Springfield, IL, in July -- it is always hot! Hot because it is July, but hot also because of the Region XI competition. This July, 2011, was no exception. John White Stables brought their best to the competition of the show and came away triumphant. Leading the competition were Zach and Rex White in the 10 and under divisions. Zach won championships in HA English Pleasure and in Saddleseat Equitation , riding his own big black gelding Rocky Roses. Zach also won the HA Country Pleasure riding Sarah Delisi’s very pretty chestnut gelding, CA Jeapordy. Rex won a Top 5 in HA Country Pleasure and Saddleseat Equitation, both 10 and under, riding his own reliable little gelding, Huck’s High Esteem.
Owner Marty Liebert drove his spectacular black gelding, BA Harlem’s Night Out, to the championship in HA Country Pleasure Driving AOTD, and Lisa Jo White drove him to the championship in the HA Open Country Pleasure Driving. Lisa also drove the Afire Bey V gelding, Guided, to the championship in HA Open Pleasure Driving.
Karla Morshhauser rode Cool Pursuit to the Reserve Championship in HA Native Costume, and won a Top 5 in HA Country Pleasure Driving ATD as well. Kristen Rogan won Top 5’s with her newly purchased purebred gelding, Matafax, in PB Country Pleasure AAOTR and PB Country Pleasure AATR. Sarah Delisi won a Top 5 ribbon on CA Jeapordy in Saddleseat Equitation, 17 and under, and Stephanie Reitter won Top 5’s in HA English Pleasure AAOTR and in HA Park AOTR on her brilliant half Arab mare Premonition GA.
